24th Edition of IHF World Handball Championship is over and we might get first coach that will leave the bench because of bad results. Croatia won 6th place in Qatar and for the country that got reputation as one of the top handball countries that is pretty bad.
Slavko Goluza is legendary Croatian player and captain that got 7 medals with Croatia in European and World competitions. But after poor performance in Qatar he lost support from fans, media and (what is more important) federation and it is likely that he will be leaving Croatian bench after end of qualification for European Handball Championship in 2016.
For his replacement Croatia is hoping to get legendary Bosnian Croat Zvonimir “Noka” Serdarusic. Noka is legendary THW Kiel coach with who Kiel won 10 titles in handball Bundesliga and in 2008 they won EHF Champions League.
Nikola Karabatic is probably one of the best players today and when asked about Serdarusic he will always say that he is the coach from who he learns the most. Serdarusic today is in France league coaching small club Aix who are currently on 10th place in LNH.
Serdarusic never tried to hide his main plan to coach Croatian national team, he said many times that he want to get back to Croatia and what better return will it be then to coach national team. When reporters asked Serdarusic about taking the Croatian national team he replayed that he talked with Zoran Gobac, but they never had any real talks about him taking over Croatian team.
Reporters asked him about Croatian team he replay that he knows most players very well and that Croatia always had a good handball players, but it was strange to see our celebration after beating Brazil like we (Croatia) won the Championship. Serdarusic said that he didn’t mean to disrespectful Brazil, but in handball terms Croatia shouldn’t have any problems against teams like Brazil.
