NBA Rumors: George Karl and the Sacramento Kings close to a deal

Basketball, NBA News:

The Sacramento Kings have found themselves in yet another disastrous season, far away from contending for a playoff spot and without a decent coach. However, at least one of those things can change soon. George Karl and the Kings have been reportedly talking about a 4-year contract with a salary of $4-5 million per year. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of unknowns around the deal, but if it happens, the Kings would definitely be progressing towards their goal to reach the playoffs in some of the next seasons.

However, there is one big factor whether Karl will actually take the job – his health is not the most stable one, as he has survived cancer two times. Even though he has a history of medical issues, Karl is a very elite coach that has proven throughout the years that he has what it takes to make a team elite.

“The Sacramento Kings made significant progress on a deal with coach George Karl on Sunday, when the once-sizable gap between the two sides on salary and length of contract was narrowed and confidence rose that a workable deal could be done. According to three people with knowledge of the situation, the last hurdle in a possible partnership was the complicated component relating to the team’s star player, center DeMarcus Cousins. Yet as of Sunday evening, there were signs that the resistance from Cousins’ camp was waning and that the two sides could be nearing a deal.”

It would definitely be a very big problem if Cousins doesn’t get along with the team’s head coach, as we all know easily upset he can get. It won’t be easy for George Karl to find a way to get along with Cousins if the player doesn’t like him. Even though the big man has stated, that he will find a way to work things out, the situation will be pretty interesting if Karl indeed joins the Kings.
