Where is Dejan Lovren? You probably ask yourself who is Dejan Lovren? Dejan Lovren is one of most expensive defensive player in history of FC Liverpool, they bought him from Southampton last year for €25 million and he was supposed to be a new Jamie Carragher.
Lovren had an excellent start in Liverpool in their win against Borussia Dortmund (4-0) he scored one goal, but how season progress his form was going downward. After the losses against West Ham and Basel Lovren start to getting first critics because of his play but the games against Crystal Palace (1-3) and Chelsea (1-2) shown how poor form Croatian defender have. Game against Chelsea on 08 November was the last game that Dejan Lovren started in first XI for Liverpool. In 2015 Dejan Lovren switch his main position from defender to substitution bench, he made only two appearances this year against Sunderland he played second 45’ and against Tottenham last 25’, only 70′ for “new Jamie Carragher”. Local newspapers asked Liverpool coach Brendon Rodgers about Dejan Lovren situation, is there any future for him on Anfield and could he be selling him on the summer. Rodgers replayed that there is the future for Lovren on Anfield but only if he start learning from Martin Skrtel. Rodgers explained how he and Skrtel didn’t like each other in his first season on Anfield, but after a lot of talk he is now one of key players for Liverpool defense. Interesting thing is that Liverpool start playing once Rodgers moved from 4-2-3-1 and sometimes 4-3-3 formation to 3-4-3 formation. In this change Liverpool “biggest defense transfer in history” lost his spot in defense and Skrtel start playing with Emre Can and Mamadou Sakho in the defense line.
Dejan Lovren started his career in Dinamo Zagreb and in season 2009/2010 he moved to Lyon for €8 million. But in Lyon he wasn’t showing anything spectacularly he was mostly known as a defender that shown best plays when he is not playing. But nevertheless he made 102 appearances for Lyon and scored 3 goals. In season 2013/2014 Southampton bought him for €10 million and Lyon fans were thrilled about that, according to the fans Lyon can now finally make some defense line. In Southampton he played similar to his time in Lyon but at the end of season Brendon Rodgers bought him for €25 million. Rodgers believes in Lovren and he is probably only one that still believes in him on Anfield, but then again Rodgers believed in Balotelli also and these two players are one of worst players this season for Liverpool.
Liverpool "new" Jamie Carragher in big troubles, only 70 minutes in 2015 for Dejan Lovren
