Barclay's Premier League: Manchester City FA Cup exit should be beneficial

Soccer, Barclay’s Premier League News:

Manchester City played extremely poorly in the entire month January and because of that their title hopes are almost non-existing. They might have won the Barclay’s Premier League Cup last season, but this time Chelsea will almost surely lift the trophy. They also exited the FA Cup at the fourth-round stage and almost completely ruined their chances for winning any tournament this year.

As for now, the whole season of Manchester City looks rather disappointing, but the fact that they got eliminated from the FA Cup may actually be something positive for them. Even though they stand far behind from Chelsea in the Barclay’s Premier League, they can now concentrate on removing their seven-point advantage in the standings. There are just 13 matches left to play, but the successful signing of Wilfried Bony and the reintroduction of Yaya Toure in the starting eleven could prove to be crucial for shortening Chelsea’s lead. Not only that, but because of the fact that their schedule will be lighter, Manuel Pellegrini and his men will be able to also concentrate on the Champions League. They will be facing Barcelona and even though it looks almost impossible to eliminate them, with a little bit of luck it can be done.

The addition of Wilfried Bony should prove to be very beneficial, as City’s attack has been quite stagnating at late. Edin Dzeko has scored just four goals all season, Sergio Aguero has hit only two since his return from injury a month ago and Stefan Jovetic, who has five goals, doesn’t look like a good fit in the offensive schemes. Bony should energize the team and help them win a lot of matches. It’s one-hundred percent sure that Pellegrini will try everything possible to integrate the former Swansea striker, so he can do his best.

As there are 13 matches until the end of the Barclay’s Premier League, Chelsea will surely lose a match or two, draw another two and it would be enough for Manchester City to take the lead. It’s just a matter of time to see whether the lighter schedule of the Citizens and their addition in the attack will be enough for them to overcome the seven-point deficit in the Premier League.
