Soccer News: The worst 5 transfers from January

Soccer News:

The January transfer window was just before 10 days ago and even though it’s a bit early to determine whether the transfers that were successful or not, we can still say that not every of them will be working out. Even though a lot of teams will be more than happy from their activity on the market, others will most likely deeply regret it, whether selling or buying.

Manchester United selling Wilfried Zaha to Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha didn’t yet play a major role for Manchester United, playing just four matches for the senior team, but he wasn’t given the opportunities to showcase his talents. He was the last purchase of Sir Alex Ferguson, but neither him, Moyes or Van Gaal used him in their rotations. Zaha was bought for £15 million, but he was sold for £3 million to Crystal Palace, which means that the Red Devils lost a of money. Crystal Palace won with this trade and so did Zaha, as he will surely get a lot of playing time.

Swansea selling Wilfried Bony to Manchester City

It’s not like Swansea should be blamed for this trade, as they purchased him for £12 million from Vitesse Arnhem and sold him for £28 million to Manchester City, which in the business aspect is a pretty good deal. However, the rest of the season will be pretty hard for Swansea. Bony was a magnificent striker and it’s hard to believe that he couldn’t have been sold in the summer. If they could have just waited until the season’s end, Swansea could have even received more money and finish on a better position in the Premier League.

Everton getting Aaron Lennon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur

It was pretty interesting to see Lennon leaving Tottenham after he appeared for over 360 times in their uniform. Everton also loaned Chelsea’s Christian Atsu and borrowing Lennon was a bit curious. They also have Kevin Mirallas, Aiden McGeady and Arouna Kane on their roster and they are also playing on the right wing. It will be very interesting whether Lennon will be beneficial to the team, but it’s hard to see how he is going to get playing time.

Newcastle United releasing Ben Arfa free of charge

It’s not too much of a surprise that Hatem Ben Arfa left Newcastle United, however it’s a bit strange that he was released free of charge. Ben Arfa could have been transferred and Newcastle United maybe could have received something in exchange, but the office didn’t work hard enough. Their biggest mistake though, was not transferring him in the summer window.

Chelsea selling Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg

It’s a bit hard to say that Chelsea will miss Schurrle, as they signed Juan Cuadrado for his replacement. However, Schurrle already understood his role of a super substitution and Jose Mourinho’s tactics. Even though the German player wanted more minutes, it looks like things could have been worked out between him and the club. Nevertheless, the price of £22 million was too good to ignore and Chelsea acted fast.
