A lot of trade rumors have been circling around the Denver Nuggets this season due to the fact that they aren’t doing well in the tough Western Conference. Timofey Mozgov is already gone and others are likely to join him. Arron Afflalo is the player that has been very close to be traded, with several teams around the league showing a lot of interest in him. The latest buzz is that his former coach, George Karl is trying to hard bring him in Sacramento.
It would be a very logical move, as the Kings would definitely need as many talented players as they can get, if they wish to become a force in the West once more. However, the Nuggets would surely want something significant in return and this could be a problem. Sacramento could offer Nik Stauskas in the potential deal, but that would hardly be enough. Afflalo is a very capable defensive player that has the ability to knock down three pointers. If Sacramento really wants to get him, a couple of draft picks could do the trick. Denver will most likely go into full rebuild mode in the next season in order to try and be competitive once more.
It would be very interesting to see whether Afflalo would be traded if the Kings and if it really happens, whether he would be a good fit. Ben McLemore is the starting shooting guard for now and it will be curious to see if George Karl is going to continue relying on him, or he will choose the veteran Afflalo instead. Nevertheless, it’s still only a rumor that the Kings have contacted the Nuggets and nothing is certain. There have also been other reports which state that the Chicago Bulls have shown a lot of interest in Denver’s guard.
