Santi Cazorla has been in a pretty good form for Arsenal this season, especially after Christmas. The Spaniard has been playing great especially on the offensive end, posting six goals and six assists in the Barclay’s Premier League. However, there have rumors that the midfielder has expressed desire to leave Arsenal and join Atletico Madrid in the summer. Furthermore, it has been reported that not only he wishes to leave, but he has also agreed a deal with the team led by Diego Simeone.
It’s not like Arsene Wenger doesn’t have other players in the midfield area that have similar qualities to Cazorla, but for the Spaniard this season has been the best from his stay at The Emirates. Cazorla was also linked with a transfer rumor during the summer of 2014, in which Atletico Madrid wanted him, but couldn’t get him. Nevertheless, this time it seems that they have succeeded in proposing terms which he likes. Cazorla would be a very great fit for Atletico, as he already has experience in the Primera Division, representing Villarreal, Recreativo Huelva and Malaga before departing to play with Arsenal. Furthermore, the 30-year old midfielder possesses great vision and skills in retaining the ball, which is crucial for the style Diego Simeone likes to use.
It would surely be a loss for Arsenal to see one of their better midfielders, especially when they have posted good results with him on the pitch. Nevertheless, Atletico Madrid would be a very good place for Cazorla and maybe he would play better there, as he has a lot of experience in the Spanish League. It’s not entirely sure if this deal will be capitalized, however a lot of rumors have been stating it is something real. We will just have to wait until the summer to see whether Arsenal will try to retain Cazorla or just let him go.
