Manuel Pellegrini: I never feel pressure

English Premier League News:

Despite of the poor form of Manchester City in 2015, Manuel Pellegrini has rubbished claims about him being under pressure from the board. Although they were just 4 points behind Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title, recent slip against Hull City has increased the lead for Chelsea to 7 points at the top of Premier League table.

While many factors could be underlined for the reasons of the current failure of Manchester City, the absence of midfielder Yaya Toure for the whole month of January has taken its toll from the reigning Premier League Champions.

Toure – who was the leading goal-scorer for Manchester City last season – had to depart for the African Cup of Nations. While he collected the accolade for his National team on Sunday, Manchester City have suffered in his absence.

During his 1 month absence from the helm, Manchester City has failed to win a single match in the Premier League. While there were teams like Everton and Chelsea, City didn’t even managed to beat the bottom side Hull City and had to salvage a draw.

However for Pellegrini who is undergoing his 2nd season at the Etihad, the Chilean has refuted claims of him being under pressure from the ownership. Ahead of his side’s trip to the Britannia Stadium to face former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes, Pellegrini was seen as fairly confident about his approach.

I never feel pressure, I have repeated the same answer for the same question for the last two years.

“The only pressure is my own pressure that I make myself when I don’t feel the team is playing well. We have a lot of things to think about, more important than pressure. I don’t feel any pressure inside the club or outside.

However, looking at the immediate history of the Dubai Owned club, Manchester City has little patience when it comes to season without trophies. During the reign of current ownership at the Etihad, two managers have been sacked when Manchester City failed to win the Premier League title.

Thus, with Premier League seeming a distant memory for the Citizens, a good run in UEFA Champions League this season might be enough for Manuel Pellegrini to extend his stay at the Etihad.
