Barclays Premier League: Manchester United targeting Tottenham stopper to replace Madrid bound De Gea!

Manchester United transfer News

Although the January transfer window is well beyond us, rumor mill is refusing to stop as the current transfer rumors unfold. And if reports coming out from various media outlets are believed to be true, then Luis Van Gaal is planning a swoop for the Frenchman Hugo Lloris to replace Madrid bound David de Gea.

Although the Frenchman is currently in a fine form for the Spurs as the North London side is mounting a serious Champions League challenge, the prospect of playing for the 20 time Premier League Champions might tempt Hugo Lloris to swap shirt.

Although Manchester United signed Victor Valdes for free in January to address their goal-keeping needs, the fact that the former Barcelona goal-keeper is well past his prime is forcing Van Gaal to consider other options.

Although David de Gea has still 18 months left on his contract with the Red devils, the recent decline in form of Iker Casillas may tempt the 10time European Champions Real Madrid to look for life after the World Cup winner.

De Gea, who replaced Casillas in the Spanish National side last year was automatically linked with the Real Madrid side which has a long and illustrious history in terms of having World class goal-keepers at the helm.

While Hugo Lloris struggled in the preceding years at White Hart Lane, Saturday’s win over local rivals Arsenal epitomizes the fact that Lloris has turned a corner when it comes to form.

While Manchester United were previously linked with the likes of Petr Cech, the fact that they already signed a veteran goal-keeper in Victor Valdes has iced interest of Red devils in pursuit of Cech.

While Lloris might tempt Manchester United to make a move, the Frenchman is bound with the North London side till 2019 courtesy to a contract that he made last year. Thus, if Manchester United want to lure him to Old Trafford next season, a fee in the region of 20-40million pound seems reasonable.
