Top 4 performers of Barcalays Premier League on game-week 23

EPL, English Premier League News:

Taking a look at last weekend of the Premier League, it was a streamline journey for most of the big teams as 3 out of the top 6 gathered wins. The other two teams included Chelsea and Manchester City whom shared a stalemate to keep their hopes for a Premier League intact.

But as football is popular for its uncertainty for a reason, the setback suffered by the Saints from the hands of Swansea served as to be the shock of the week.

Here are 5 performers that helped their teams to gather wins on game-week 4: –

Santi Cazorla

For a man who is taking full advantage of his form, Santi Cazorla ran riot the Aston Villa defense as Arsenal put 5 past the visiting side. Although the match was highlighted with the return of Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil to action, it was Cazorla who stole the headlines once again as he grabbed another Man of the Match award to his name.

From the 5 goals that Arsenal scored against Villa on Sunday, Cazorla was directly involved in 2 goals to pile the misery on the Villains.

In his last 5 matches for Arsenal in the Premier League, the Spaniard has grabbed 2 goals and 4 assists which makes him the leading contender of being named as the Premier League Player of the month for January.

Jonjo Shelvey

Not a long ago when Gary Monk labelled the Englishman as sluggish in-front of the media ahead of their game with Liverpool, many questioned his logic – until yesterday – when the Englishman spurred on his performance to drown a high flying Southampton side.

While the home side was leading the match for the most part of first half, Shelvey was the only player in a Swansea shirt that looked to trouble the Southampton goal-keeper and he did exactly that just after the 80 minute mark.

From his shot at the start of 2nd half that bounced back the wood-work to his wonder goal from nearly 25 yards out, Shelvey was eyeing to prove the doubters wrong as he crashed the hopes of Southampton to retain 3rd spot in the Premier League table.

Jonathan Walters

Not a name that has the status of a house-hold, Walters made sure Stoke remain in the hunt of European football next season with only his 1st ever hat-trick for the Potters on Saturday. Although Stoke fans were feeling belittled after the unexpected injury of Bojan Kirkic, Walters made sure to return the smiles on their faces with his unbelievable performance at the Britannia Stadium.

While his hat-trick spurred joy amongst the Potters’ fans, another defeat for Queens Park Rangers meant that the Premier League new-comers are now struggling for survival after earning just 19 points from the first 23 games of this season.

Harry Kane

Even though it seemed as ages before the start of this season for Tottenham to have a specialist goal-scorer, the U-21 England International Harry Kane looks set to play a ‘’Gareth-Bale-esque’’ role at the White Hart Lane this season.

Saturday’s performance against West Brom was another feather in an already burdened cap of the English striker as he moon-walked beside a beleaguered baggies side.

Having scored 8 goals in the Premier League coming against West Brom on Saturday, Kane looked made sure to enter his goal-scoring in double figures for the season with a brace. And at a time when all other big teams around Spurs won their matches, Kane made sure that their pursuit for a top-4 spot remains right on track.
