Danijel Subasic and Monaco attacking old Bordeaux record

Soccer News:

On Sunday Monaco manage to take a point against the leader of Ligue 1 Lyon, game at Stade Louis II end 0-0. But what was more interesting in this game is the fact that Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic manages to get to 791 minute s without receiving a goal in Ligue 1.

In next four games against Guingamp, Montpellier, Nice, PSG and first 25 minutes against Evian Thonon Gaillard if Subasic manage to keep clean sheet he will overthrow 20 years old record that Bordeaux goalkeeper Gaetan Huard manages to set in season 1992/1993. Huard manage to keep clean sheet for 1176 minutes in Ligue 1.

Subasic already manage to set one record this season, he overthrown St. Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier with the numbers of minutes without a goal in this season.

Last goal Danijel Subasic received in Ligue 1 was on 29 November against Rennes 2-0, since then Monaco manage to get eight games without defeat in national championship Lens (2-0), Toulouse (2-0), Marseille (1-0), Metz (1-0), Bordeaux (0-0), Nantes (1-0), Evian Thonon Gaillard (2-0), Lille (1-0) and Lyon (0-0). By the look at the opponents Monaco defense didn’t have an easy job in keeping clean sheets. They manage to keep clean sheets against two best attacks in Ligue 1 Marseille (43 goals) and Lyon (47 goals). With only 18 goals received this season Monaco have third defense of Ligue 1 behind St. Etienne (15 goals) and Lyon (17 goals).

Monaco was also playing in Champions’ League Group C and Subasic was also excellent there. Monaco was in group with Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit and Benfica from 6 games he received only one goal and help Monaco to take first spot in Group C.

Probably the biggest threat for the Danijel Subasic record will be a game against Paris Saint Germain and his key starts Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi and Cavani, this game is on schedule for 1 March.
