UEFA Europa League: How will Everton lineup against Dynamo Kiev

UEFA Europa League Match Preview

Sitting at 14th place in the Premier League table just 6 points off the relegation zone, it will be fair to say that Roberto Martinez’ men have failed to live up to the expectations this season in the League. While they made a club record signing in Romelu Lukaku last summer for 28-million-pounds, 33 goals in 28 matches enshrines their performances in the League this season.

Unlike their defense of last season which made sure a late Champions League spot challenge, only to be thwarted by Arsenal, Everton have conceded the 2nd most number of goals amongst the top 14 Premier League teams this season.

Everton is the only English team in UEFA Europa League which has progressed to the Pre-quarter finals of the competition this season.

And looking at their recent form which consists of defeats against Arsenal, West Brom and Stoke City, the misery looks set to continue for the Blues’ faithful for the last 2 months of the season.

However, as they say that a coin has two sides, such has been the 2014/15 campaign for the Merseysiders. While their form in the Premier League oozes frustration, thwarting and obscureness, their performance in the Europe sprinkles hope, delight and most importantly wins for the blues.

Even though many top teams around Europe consider Europa League to be a pit-fall, it is always a chance for mid-table sides to showcase their talents. However, unluckily for Everton, their form in the Europe has been coupled with their misery in the domestic competition which has stopped them from enjoying their success in Europe.

Being the only team from England to be in the pre-quarter finals of UEFA Europa League after exits of Liverpool and Tottenham, Everton need to capitalize on the tournament which is their only chance of happiness this season.

And regardless of the future of Roberto Martinez at the club which looks in serious threat just after 2 seasons, a good run in this competition can help them to build their confidence back. And as they say that you cannot change the history, a good run in this competition might help them in the Premier League as well. And with a place in the Champions League next season up for grabs, Everton have every reason to put their heart in the Europa League.

Here is how they are expected to lineup against Dynamo Kiev: –

Howard – Stones – Jagielka – Coleman – Garbutt – McCarthy – Barry – Barkley – Mirallas – Naismith – Lukaku
