NBA News: What's happening with the Washington Wizards?

Basketball, NBA News:

Once a team that was thought to be a legitimate contender in the East, the Washington Wizards have now became one of the lousiest squads in the conference. It’s strange how a team that had a 29-13 record at one point, has now lost 11 out of their last 13 games and is playing just awful. The Wizards are now barely sitting at fifth place in the East, with a 33-26 record , looking like everything except a playoff team. However, thanks to the fact that they are not in the West, Washington will probably play in the postseason. The question is – how successful can they be if they continue with this form?

The answer is – pretty much unsuccessful. The Wizards have looked completely lost in February and because of that head-coach Randy Wittman is very close to being fired. Furthermore, everyone has started to talk how John Wall isn’t the type of player the Wizards need and that he can’t be a face of franchise. It’s strange how just a month and a half ago, everybody was saying that he and Bradley Beal were arguably the best backcourt in the entire NBA. However, the Wizards’ recent defeats from Minnesota and Philadelphia have made us think that something needs to drastically change if the Wizards wish to win at least one series in the postseason.

The Wizards are playing seven of their next eleven games on the road and this could be just devastating if they don’t do something in order to improve their play. With a current record of 33-26, the team is currently seven games over 0.500, but if they continue losing at the same tempo, even their playoff position could be in jeopardy. There is no easy answer to Washington’s woes, but Randy Wittman needs to think of something – whether it will be trying to make his players defend better or urge to share the ball more – in order to save the Wizards season.
