FA Cup: How will Liverpool lineup against Blackburn Rovers

FA Cup Match Preview:


Coming into this match on the back of an easy, yet elegant win against Premier League side Burnley, Liverpool will be riding on their luck. Although their cup form this season has been far from influential with eradications from UEFA Champions League and Europa League at an early stage, Liverpool can take heart from their recent performances in the League. They will be hoping to replicate their form and with their next opponent ranked 25 places below them, the Reds will be looking to go all out against Blackburn Rovers.


Here is how they are expected to lineup against Blackburn on Sunday: –


Simon Mignolet

In his 1st season at Anfield, Mignolet kept 10 clean-sheets however, with 10 games to go in this season, Mignolet has bashed the averageness from his game as he has notched up 10 clean-sheets already. He has been a major reason for the resurgence of the Reds in the past 2 months and if Liverpool want to keep their escalating form intact, Simon Mignolet has to maintain his current form.


Emre Can

Signed as a midfielder which has more potential than promise, Emre Can has been one of the revelations of this season for the Reds. Having started 11 games for the Reds since the Boxing day in the League, Can has been becoming more of an irreplaceable figures for the Reds.


Dejan Lovren

While players around him have seen a remarkable turn of fortunes in the past 2 months, here is a player who is yet to prove his credentials. And with Mamadou Sakho nearing his return to full match fitness, the Croatian might see him on the sidelines despite some good performances in recent weeks.


Martin Skrtel

After that defeat at the Old Trafford when Brendan Rodgers was talking about the team ethos, the Reds were looking more like a side that was disturbed both on the ground and off it. However, credit to Martin Skrtel and Co. as they have returned the feeling of last season to the team camp.


Lazar Markovic

After sitting on the sidelines and see his team-mates streamline pass Burnley, Markovic is expected to get back in the team at the expense of Raheem Sterling.


Jordan Henderson

After the decision of Steven Gerrard to leave Liverpool, everybody with a red crest was asking the question of his replacement. While many were referring to some foreign talent to fill the void which would be created, Jordan Henderson was a name that was absent from the headlines. However, with his performances in the recent weeks against the likes of Tottenham and Manchester City, the English midfielder has allowed the Liverpool fans to dream again.


Joe Allen

With Lucas Leiva still struggling to return to training and Steven Gerrard in the last phases of his training before returning to full match fitness, Joe Allen would take the center stage along with Jordan Henderson.


Alberto Moreno

Signed as a full back who had an appetite to attack every-time he saw some green patch in front of him, Alberto Moreno has benefited a lot from the 3-4-3 formation that Brendan Rodgers has adapted of late.


Adam Lallana

Signed as a player who was immediately burdened by the price tag, Adam Lallana is a player who looks finally be able to break the mental barrier that was stopping him before. With his breathtaking first touch that would mesmerize any football fan, Lallana is getting praise and is gaining his momentum.


Daniel Sturridge

While he was lackluster for most of the time against Burnley, it was his goal that calmed the nerves of the Reds fans. He is expected to start from the offset against Blackburn.


Philippe Coutinho

When they say that first impression is the last impression, a young Brazilian in Philippe Coutinho is obviously an exception. In this age of youtube videos where a player gets overnight exposure, here is a player who has taken time and now enjoying the limelight. With his breathtaking goals against Southampton and Manchester City being the source of his recent fame, Brendan Rodgers has now choice but to include the Brazilian in his plans against Blackburn.
