FA Cup: How will Liverpool lineup against Blackburn Rovers

FA Cup Match Preview

Coming into this match after suffering back to back defeats from their top 4 rivals, Liverpool know the fact that FA Cup remains the best chance for them to salvage any pride this season. Residing at 5th place in the League with a 9-poiny gap between them and 4th place Manchester City, the recent form of Liverpool has raised certain doubts over the long-term future of manager Brendan Rodgers at the helm.

With all due credit to the Northern Irishman, Rodgers has simply been unable to replicate his team’s form of last season. While they have suffered just 2 defeats in the last 3 months in Premier League, both of those defeats were enough to squander their season into turmoil.

And with Europa League looming on the horizon as a next season’s assignment, Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to strengthen his case in-front of the American owners with an FA Cup on the menu.

Talking about the team news and although there was some news of un-rest in the Liverpool camp after that defeat at Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers has rubbished such claims. However, even if there are no issues with the team ethos, the lineup that will travel to Blackburn will be emaciated due to suspensions. With all Emre Can, Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel serving their respective periods of suspension, devising the first 11 might be a little headache for Brendan Rodgers.

But with the conventional routes all blocked for Brendan Rodgers, the manager can now do what he is best at: experimenting. With the 3-5-2 visibly distraught after back to back defeats, a more conventional approach of 4-4-2 formation might be on the cards at Ewood Park for Liverpool.

Here is how they are expected to lineup against Blackburn Rovers: –

Liverpool Starting lineup:

Mignolet – Sakho – Toure – Lovren – Henderson – Allen – Moreno – Lallana – Sterling – Coutinho – Sturridge

Blackburn Rovers Vs Liverpool will take place at the Ewood Park on Wednesday, 8th April.
