Chelsea raid Southampton for Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne

Chelsea Transfer News

According to the latest transfer rumors that are coming out, Chelsea have decided to raid Southampton in the summer transfer window. And like their rivals Liverpool whom pillaged Southampton with multiple signings, Chelsea are looking for a double-move from the South coast.

Having had one of the best midfield unit in the Premier League, Chelsea are looking to strengthen their options for next season. While they were linked with Paul Pogba for the most of last 3-months, it seems that the price tag of the French has put the Premier League giants off guard. Instead, now they are looking towards Morgan Schneiderlin as a back-up option.

While this is only the 3rd year for Schneiderlin at the English soil, his performance has attracted interests from nearly all the English giants. Arsenal were the ones who comprehended his talent last season, but credit to Southampton that they fended off any interest coming from the London side.

Arsenal again went in the January transfer window but with a potential Champions League place to fight for, Southampton were quick to refuse them for the 2nd time in space of 6-months. However, as they say that football is a game of two halves, Chelsea could be the victors if they decided to jump in the race for the Frenchman.

Looking at the credentials of Schneiderlin and although this is only his 3rd season for Southampton, 3 goals and numerous assists makes him a prized asset for Southampton. And looking at their capacity of extracting money from big clubs like they did last summer with Liverpool, the price tag of Schneiderlin wouldn’t be emaciated if Chelsea decides to lure him.

While Schneiderlin is a sort of player whose signing can be justified – looking at the form of Fabregas of late, it is difficult to predict that where would Clyne fit into the system for Chelsea. With full-backs like Ivanovic and Azpilicueta both of whom are in the form of their lives, Clyne may suffer the same future that has been the destiny for Salah and Cuadrado at the Stamford Bridge.
