Arsenal to go after Paris Saint Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye

English Premier League Transfer News

Looking at the midfield of Arsenal in that form defying win over Liverpool, it is difficult to concur that where they can go better. Having had the likes of Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere and Rosicky – when he returns from his injury, Arsenal have a truckload of potentially brilliant midfielders at the helm.

However, if reports coming out from the French club are believed to be true, Arsenal are ready to offer Yohan Cabaye an exit path from the French Capital in the summer of 2015.

Cabaye has made 19 appearances for PSG this season with 9 of them coming of the bench.

Taking a look at Cabaye and the contributions that he has made to PSG since joining the French giants, lack of first team action would be the primary reason of him leaving the French side if that happens. While he moved to PSG in January 2013 after spending several years at Newcastle, Cabaye has been unable to replicate the form with which he was associated at the St. James Park.

At 29-years of age and still finding it difficult to get more playing time, Cabaye is reportedly dismayed at the lack of first-team action which has been available to him at the Parc des Princes. And with Arsenal the visible suitors from him in the Premier League, Cabaye will definitely get more first team action at the Emirates.

While PSG will be facing Barcelona in a week’s time and sit on the epitome of the Ligue 1 after that 3-2 win over Marseille, Cabaye has made a total of 22 appearances for PSG – with 12 of them coming off the bench. Thus, being fed up of being a utility player in France, Cabaye might return to England.

When Newcastle sold him to PSG for approximately 20-million-pounds in January 2013, Arsenal were also yearning for his signature. However, they failed to match his valuation and Cabaye departed for France.

However, one concern that will arise should he move to Arsenal will be the playing position of the Frenchman. With attacking midfield as his designated position, Arsenal already have the likes of Wilshere, Ramsey and Cazorla for that position in their midfield. Thus, while Cabaye will be coming to England to gain more first team action, he might have to fight for his place at the Emirates.
