Manchester United transfer Rumors: Cavani bid imminent, Van Persie to leave

Manchester United transfer Rumors

While the frenzy of the summer transfer window is still 3 months away, Premier League giants Manchester United are in the news once again. While they were in the news before this as well, the list of people leaving the Old Trafford in the summer has also been revealed. And the Dutchman Van Persie is on top of the evacuees from the Old Trafford.

Signed in the summer of 2012 for a hefty price tag of 24-million pounds, Van Persie was a major reason in the last Premier League title winning campaign of Sir Alex Ferguson. While Manchester United won the title a week before the end of the season, Persie scored 30-goals that season to clinch the golden boot award.

However, Louis Van Gaal has deemed the Dutchman surplus of requirements and is looking to offload him. While they have the option to make the stay of Falcao permanent in order to compensate the loss of Van Persie, the Red devils are again looking towards France in order to get a new striker.

The former Netherland boss has been promised a war-chest of more than 150-million pounds and he is ready to spend a big chunk of that on Edinson Cavani. Residing in France and in his 2-year stay at the Parc des Princes, Cavani has been a target of host of clubs. While Manchester United were also his well-wishers, both Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with the Uruguayan.

Looking at his season thus far, Cavani has scored 8 goals in 28 appearances for PSG. Thus, while he is not in the form of his life, the continuous dominant of Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the PSG striking department may also force Cavani to consider his options.

And amid interest from Manchester United, Cavani was seen visibly distraught when he was subbed before the hour-mark against Marseille at the weekend. While PSG eventually won that match courtesy to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic brace, Cavani had to cut a sorry figure at the bench.

So with a storm brewing inside the Uruguayan due to lack of playing time, he might answer his critics by moving to Manchester United.

When his on-field troubles are combined with his off-the field attitude with Laurent Blanc, the Uruguayan International looks more than likely to leave PSG in the summer. And unlike last season when Manchester United weren’t in the position of offering him Champions League football, a package this time – including Champions League football might lure him to Old Trafford.
