Glasgow Police under highest degree of readiness for upcoming Old Firm derby on Sunday

Soccer News:

After three years of absence “Old Firm” derby is back! This Sunday at 13:30 GMT from Scotland national stadium “Hampden Park”, we will see a clash between Celtic and Rangers in semi-final of Scotland League Cup.

Last time we watch Old Firm derby was 29 April 2012 when these two clubs meet in Scotland Premier League at Celtic Park. In that game Celtic demolishes Rangers and took 3-0 win, scorers were Charlie Mulgrew, Kris Commons and Gary Hooper.

Soon after that game Rangers was kicked out in fourth league due to financial problems and in next three years we didn’t watch Old Firm derby. Rangers are now playing in Scotland Championship, that is second division of Scotland national league, and holding second spot. So there is a big chance that from next year Old Firm will be back on regularly basis.

Since this is their first meeting in the last three-year and it’s also jubilee 400 Old Firm derbies, Scotland police is at the greatest degree of readiness. They visit both camps and ask players for their help in keeping the game safe for all spectators.

Police stated that both teams are warned that they minimal the goals celebration, they don’t want too much celebration because that could lead to trouble on the stadium. Because they didn’t play for last three years tensions are already pretty high and on top of that we (Police) need to add bad financial situation in Rangers, which could lead to some major troubles on the stadium, said the Scotland Police. Scotland Police on the end of their statement said that all players are warned about their behavior on the field and that they too can be arrested if their behavior is inappropriate.

Old Firm was played 399 times; Celtic won 144 games while Rangers got 159 wins. In Scotland League they play each other 304 times (Celtic 100 wins; Rangers 119) in Scotland Cup they played 48 games (Celtic 23 wins; Rangers 16 wins) and in League Cup they played 47 games (Celtic 21 win; Rangers 24 wins).
