Xavi: It was time for a change

Today on press conference Xavi confirm all the speculations that were going about his leaving the club. He said that he will be leaving Barcelona and joining Qatar team Al Sadd with who he will sign two years contract.

“I am leaving the club at the end of the season. I made this decision with a heavy heart, it was not easy, but my family and I decide that it was time for a change. We are leaving to Qatar where I will sign two years contract for Al Sadd.”

Xavi début for Barcelona on 12 May 1998 against Southampton in friendly match, his competitive début was 18 August 1998 in Spain Super Cup final. Since then Xavi played total 764 games and score 84 goals for Barcelona. Xavi was a key role in Barcelona famous “tika-taka” play and he was known as player that has highest percent of successful passes. Xavi admits that Barcelona offer him contract for one more year but he said that he knows that he cannot give anymore 100% and it would not be fair to Barcelona.

“Barcelona offer mi contract until 2018, but I have to deny their offer because I made my decision about leaving earlier. I have played for 17 years in first team and now am time to say goodbye.”

There are rumors that Barcelona and Nike are preparing special goodbye shirt in which will Barcelona play against Deportivo, on the chest there will be a sign “Gracies Xavi” and date of his last game for Barcelona. Barcelona fans are also preparing something spectacular, there are little information’s about it but if we know Barcelona fans then we will be speechless.
