The current goalkeeper of Real Madrid and a team legend, Iker Casillas has been constantly surrounded by rumors throughout this season. All the speculations about him have come because of his shaky form and the fact that the Whites have shown interest in Manchester United’s David De Gea. However, in a recent interview, the captain of Real Madrid has denied that he plans to leave the club any time soon.
When the Spanish goalkeeper was asked a question about his future, the response was pretty clear:
“Where am I going to be better off than here?”
Casillas was linked with Arsenal in the last couple of months, but it seems that Arsene Wenger should try and look elsewhere for somebody that could replace David Ospina for the next campaign. San Iker, as they call him in Madrid, was able to win back his place as a starting goalkeeper for Los Blancos after he was dropped out by the previous manager of the team – Jose Mourinho. Nevertheless, it should be noted that Casillas hasn’t received a lot of positive emotions from the club’s fans. Even though the goalkeeper has stated that he doesn’t wish to leave Bernabeu, it’s very clear whether the management of the team is in the same opinion.
There were a lot of rumors in the recent past that stated how Real Madrid is ready to pay Iker Casillas the money that they own him until the end of his contract, in order for him to leave the club. It will be very interesting to see whether the Whites would go after Manchester United’s David De Gea during the summer. If they do and find a way to sign him, it’s very doubtful that Casillas will choose to stay with Real Madrid. However, only time will tell.
