Soccer, UEFA Champions League News:
In a game that was simply amazing, Juventus was able to earn surprisingly a victory against the defending champions, Real Madrid. Thanks to the pair of forwards in the Italian team, Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata, the squad was able to score two very valuable goals at home. On the other hand, the Whites just couldn’t manage to play at the pace they wanted to and just couldn’t break Juve’s defensive line.
The game started with Juventus pressuring their opponents and taking control of the midfield are of the pitch. The Whites were simply making too many mistakes and couldn’t impose their will on the style of the match. After a series of mistakes, Juventus was able to take the 1-0 lead, thanks to Alvaro Morata. Carlos Tevez was able to fire a powerful shot, but after Iker Casillas had made the save, the former Real Madrid player was able to reach the ball first and netted it in.
“Real’s players were claiming for offside but the English officials have got that right. The ball that was played in found Carlos Tevez in such a great position – no-one picked him up. Tevez had acres of space, and Alvaro Morata, the pain of trying not to celebrate was etched on his face. He was trying to be cool about it but he must be bursting inside.”
However, this was just what Carlo Ancelotti’s side needed. Real Madrid started to play more organized, and the results weren’t late. In the 27th minute of the first-half, Cristiano Ronaldo scored from close range after a magnificent cross made by James Rodriguez. The Whites continued to attack, and they could have even scored a second goal, but James hit the post after a diving header.
As the first-half ended at 1-1, the match was anybodies for the taking. In the second half, Juventus was able to score a second goal that put them in the lead once again. After a great counter-attack by the Italian team, Carlos Tevez was illegally tackled by Dani Carvajal inside the penalty area. The Argentinian striker didn’t miss from the spot and was able to put Juve up 2-1.
Real Madrid tried to attack, but just couldn’t create anything significant. Furthermore, if it wasn’t for a couple of saves made by Iker Casillas, the result could have been even worse for the Whites. Carlo Ancelotti and his men will definitely have to improve a lot for the second-leg of the semi-finals if they wish to play in the UEFA Champions League final once again.
Juventus stunningly defeats Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals!
