NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics will try to sign DeMarcus Cousins this summer

Basketball, NBA Rumors:

DeMarcus Cousins has been the face of the Sacramento Kings franchise for a couple of years now, but rumors have emerged that it’s not sure for how long it will continue. As the summer is slowly but surely coming, teams around the league have been thinking of ways to reinforce their rosters. The Boston Celtics are one of the teams that can surely use a bit more talent. Their general manager, Danny Ainge, seems to be thinking the same way, and that is why he may try to trade fo DeMarcus Cousins in the offseason.

There have been numerous reports from different media that the Celtics will most likely try trade, rather than lure a free-agent.

“The good news for Boston: Ainge and his staffers are creative and aggressive and understand all of those dynamics as well as anyone else. And that’s why the Celtics realize their next major talent infusion is perhaps even more likely to come via trade rather than free-agent signings. Will they open their war chest of future draft picks to try to pry DeMarcus Cousins away from Sacramento via trade? The early word out there is: Bank on it.”

This season Boston Celtics proved they have a great core of young players on their roster, but one thing was evident – the lack of star talent. Because of that, Cousins would be a great fit. He is one of the NBA’s best big men, if not the best, and he will definitely be surrounded by better players in Boston than in Sacramento for the following season. Boogie averaged 24.1 points, 12.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game this season and will provide a lot of scoring for the Celtics if they can find a way to get him.

However, it will be very interesting to see what the Kings demand in returno for their face of the franchise. Nevertheless, one thing is certain – Cousins won’t come cheap and if Boston really wants him, they will have to offer the Kings a pretty good deal.
