It’s official! After months of speculations and all kinds of transfer rumors, Manchester United has finally reached an agreement with the young Dutch star, Memphis Depay. PSV Eindhoven y has also made it official that the player will be leaving the club at the start of summer transfer window. At times, everybody thought that the Red Devils have chosen to let Depay sign with another team, but none of those expectations go realized. Liverpool was also in the chase for the young star, but couldn’t manage to sign him.
This is what Depay posted on his Instagram profile at the moment the deal was publicly announced:
“I always say; Dream, Believe, Achieve. I was dreaming and believing of becoming the champions of the Eredivisie with @PSV and we achieved it. I’m extremely grateful towards PSV, all the fans, @underarmour and@segfootball for believing in me. Now it’s time to set my goals again on winning trophies with@ManchesterUnited.”
Depay has scored 21 goals during this season, which made him one of the best young talents in Europe. Because of that, it has been reported that Manchester United will pay PSV Eindhoven a fee around £22.5 million. If Louis Van Gaal finds a way to polish the rough diamond that Depay is, the Dutch player could maybe become the next Cristiano Ronaldo. The 21-year-old is freakishly athletic, has amazing skills and his shot from outside the box is simply magnificent.
Depay will definitely bring a lot of creativity in Manchester United’s attack and is expected to help them to win a Premier League title. With him on the team, Louis Van Gaal won’t have any excuses if he doesn’t at least challenge Chelsea for the league title next season.
