Live Golf Action - The Return of Tiger Woods

Life as a professional golfer has been good to Tiger Woods. He plays the sport he loves the most and is remarkably great at it and is earning money while doing so. His talent remains unsurpassed until now and he can even win the US Open even when his knee joint is broken. He remains to be the top ranked golfer in the world for a few years now that other golfers seem to be battling for second place. And when other golfers do win majors it is because he did not enter the field and join the competition may be the best reason to explain why other golfers do win.

Tiger Woods went into an eight month sabbatical to have the anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee repaired through surgery and rehabilitation. And during this time, he also expanded his family when his wife Elin gave birth to his second child, a boy named Charlie Axel. His eldest daughter is named Sam Alexis.

The new season has begun and Woods has entered his first tournament after his hibernation at the Accenture Match Play Championships. And skeptics who thought that Woods shall lose his awesome touch were wrong as he impressed the crowd with his shot making ability, as he overcome a wobble at the front nine and win his match  at the WGC Accenture Word Match Play Championships.

He was playing against Australian Brendan Jones in the first round of the 64 man event hosted at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and tallied a 3 and 2 win. Sergio Garcia, the second ranked golfer in the world at the moment lost his match 1-up to Charl Schwartzel while Padraig Harrington was defeated by Pat Perez.

The world number one started his round displaying his determination to shoot a great score of golf. And the crowd that eagerly awaited for his return sheered him on when he made his first tee shot which parlayed into a birdie on the first whole.

Woods described his first day like as if he was not away from the sport fo so long, that it felt good. He expected his knee to be stiff at some point but was relatively surprised that it felt good. It was Tiger's way of saying that he did not feel any adverse reaction in his rehabilitated knee. And his first victory after a long layoff really showed just how much Woods' talent in the sport of golf really is.

His next match against Tim Clark the next day momentarily halted the euphoria the sporting world experienced with Woods' return. He faced a very determined and in form golfer who matched Woods' shot making prowess on that day. He eventually defeated Woods 4 and 2 in the second round.

As much as everybody did not know what to expect with Woods' performance on the day of his return, most of the organizers that he shall somehow overcome his long layoff and stay in the tournament a little longer by winning his matches. There is no doubt that his comeback was the biggest golfing news at that point and  his presence would definitely draw in the crowds to watch the tournament live.

Too bad though, that did not materialize.
